Finding My Way Back Home

The story of TwoChiefs begins in the spring of 2020, a time that tested all of us. After years of living downtown Vancouver and Toronto, pursuing my passion for film acting and writing while working in restaurants, the pandemic brought everything to a halt. Losing my job and facing the uncertainty of lockdowns, I made the decision to move back to Rosedale, BC; to my family farm and community of Cheam First Nation, that promised space, work, and a semblance of peace during uncertain times.

This return wasn't just a physical move; it was a homecoming to my roots and the culture that has always been a part of me. One night, while catching up with a childhood friend, I was inspired by her story of how she pivoted her life and business in the face of lockdowns. She moved her business 100% online and it had transformed her life and given her a new found freedom. This led me to take the leap into becoming a business owner myself and I proudly opened TwoChiefs in April 2021. My vision was clear: to support artists by selling Indigenous design, creating a platform that celebrated culture and provided a voice for Indigenous artists.

Overcoming Challenges with Resilience

Starting TwoChiefs was no small feat. The early days were filled with learning curves, from setting up my Shopify(#ad) online store to navigating the complexities of shipping and handling. In the early days of operating my business, all my seemingly large challenges were underscored by the discovery of the 215 unmarked graves at the Kamloops residential school—a moment that gave my mission a new depth and urgency.
