What Is Coast Salish Art?

Coast Salish art is one of the oldest living art traditions in the world. Born from the peoples of the Fraser River delta and the lower mainland of British Columbia — including the Stó:lō, Musqueam, Tsawwassen, Semiahmoo, and Cheam — Coast Salish design is characterized by its flowing forms, powerful animal spirits, and deep connection to land and water. The salmon, the eagle, the bear, and the raven are not just images here. They are teachings.
